What The Fighters Want
In Michigan, amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) is one of the most popular sports among young to middle aged men. People love to fight. It's plain and simple. Since the market is growing at such a rapid rate there seems to be more and more MMA promotions popping up all over the state. Most promoters think you just need a cage and fighters and BAM, here comes the millions. Unfortunately, this is not the case. In order to have a successful MMA promotion, the fighters need to feel like they are being taken care of. A cage-side doctor and ambulance crew is a must have. Fighters should speak up and have their gas and rooms paid for by the promoter. Amateur fighters are not allowed to be paid in any way. It is a law in the state of Michigan. So it is important that promoters treat their fighters with the utmost respect. The fighters family and friends represent a staggering 70 to 80 percent of the overall crowd in most amateur shows in Michigan. In other words, without fighters these shows would not be profitable. However, when a promoter keeps his fighters happy they will come back over and over again and tell all of their friends what a great fight promotion you have. To summarize this whole post, take care of your fighters and you WILL be rewarded!
