What The Fighters Want
In Michigan, amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) is one of the most popular sports among young to middle aged men. People love to fight. It's plain and simple. Since the market is growing at such a rapid rate there seems to be more and more MMA promotions popping up all over the state. Most promoters think you just need a cage and fighters and BAM, here comes the millions. Unfortunately, this is not the case. In order to have a successful MMA promotion, the fighters need to feel like they are being taken care of. A cage-side doctor and ambulance crew is a must have. Fighters should speak up and have their gas and rooms paid for by the promoter. Amateur fighters are not allowed to be paid in any way. It is a law in the state of Michigan. So it is important that promoters treat their fighters with the utmost respect. The fighters family and friends represent a staggering 70 to 80 percent of the overall crowd in most amateur shows in Michigan. In other words, without fighters these shows would not be profitable. However, when a promoter keeps his fighters happy they will come back over and over again and tell all of their friends what a great fight promotion you have. To summarize this whole post, take care of your fighters and you WILL be rewarded!

Blackout Promotions: St. Valentine's Beat Down Success!
Last Friday, February 11, 2011, Blackout Promotions hosted their fourth mixed martial arts show in Bay City, Michigan at the National Guard Armory. This event featured mixed martial artists from all over the state of Michigan showcasing their talents in the cage! Over 700 fans cheered on their favorite fighters. The event featured Mike "The CageBomb" Cruz VS Andrew "The Pretty Boy" Chandler for the Blackout Promotions 135lb title. Mike Cruz took home the belt and the fans went absolutely crazy! We believe this show was such a success because of the effort that went into marketing the show. Every fighter had a pre-fight interview that was put on to Facebook. Every fighter had a unique poster created for them to show their friends and family on Facebook. There were over 40 fighters at this event and every one of them was treated respectfully. Their friends and family were all in attendance at this event making it such a success.
Facebook is an amazing tool for connecting family, friends, fans, or pretty much anything one can think of. It's incredible power of convenient communication makes our fighters do all the advertising for us. We rely on word of mouth advertising from our fighters! We want them to be proud to fight for Blackout Promotions. We clearly have been doing the right thing so far!

The New World of Mixed Martial Arts
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), is a sport that is rapidly growing in popularity in the United States. Many people are familiar with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). It is basically the NFL of MMA. MMA is a combination of boxing, kickboxing, and jiu jitsu, just to name a few. It is a full contact sport. There are thousands of amateur MMA promotions popping up all over the United States. The name of my promotion is called Blackout Cage Fighting and we are located in Bay City, Michigan.
My goal is to figure out how to step up above the rest of these amateur promotions with my Internet Marketing strategies. How can our organization interact with fans in ways that others cannot? How can I reach more fans in ways that other promotions do not understand? I plan to figure out these questions in the following months and create posts explaining what I've learned.
Please keep your eyes open for more posts soon!
